Spiritualism is a religious movement
Its core belief is that spirits of the dead exist and have the ability and to communicate with the living.
The afterlife, or ‘spirit world’, is seen by spiritualists as a place close to our world where spirits continue to evolve. Mediums are able to communicate with people in the spirit world and offer proof of life after death. They can also convey messages of love and teachings from the spirit world to help us in our world.

Spiritual Healing
Healing is the greatest gift, it can manifest in many different ways. Speaking to people in a positive way and exchanging energy can offer a healing through simple kindness.
When it comes to spiritual healing in regards to Spiritualism, people can be gifted healers and use themselves as a conduit to channel spiritual healing from the spirit world into a recipient. This healing can also be done absently, many churches have absent healing books where healing thoughts are shared each day for people who need support.

Philosophy of Spiritualism
Many of our community are Spiritualists or have a keen interest in Spiritualism. We believe in the 7 Principles. A framework to live by, 7 simple statements that provide a moral and spiritual compass.
There are also four main areas of focus;
Healing is not just restoration of physical health, it is a universal remedy provided by the spirit source which if utilised positively promotes wholeness of body, mind and spirit.
Peace is not just cessation of war. It is personal tranquillity and mental calm; it creates a state of friendliness to replace strife which brings joy and fulfilment in life.
Respect is not just refraining from unworthy conduct or thought, it is a positive attitude to all living things, especially consideration to people through politeness in communication which engenders a feeling of understanding and goodwill within the soul.
Evolution is not just allowing things to move on without focus; it requires a change in disposition to direct movement which is necessary for growth and survival and further development of original ideas.

The Fatherhood of God
The Fatherhood of God is the belief in a divine energy that lives within us, around us and bonds together the fabric of the universe. There is a power that surrounds us all, the spirit world is part of that energy. God is here to protect us and power us forward through our belief. We are all equal in the eyes of the Devine.
The Brotherhood of Man
The Brotherhood of Man is the understanding that no matter your race, background or belief we are all equal and part of the same global community. As Spiritualists we try to recognise the good in every person and strive to better ourselves and others. ‘Treat people like you would expect them to treat you.’ A brotherhood is a community for mutual help and support, we are all part of the one Devine family.
The Communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels
The Communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels, we all have the ability to communicate with the spirit world. The ministry of angels operates both here in physical form as well as in the spirit world. Angels bring insight to guide us and offer healing and inspiration through spiritual teachers to enrich our world.
The Continuous Existence of the Human Soul
The Continuous Existence of the Human Soul simply means we are unable to die. Our life force is greater than our physical body and consciousness. Pioneers
Spiritualism has grown incredibly since the Fox sisters in 1848 and what was known as the Hydesville Rappings. The movement has seen many prominent figures, such as Arthur Conan Doyle and Charles Dickens. Many pioneers of the movement have made significant strides forward in teaching and demonstrating mediumship such as Emma Hardinge Britten, Ernest Walter Oaten and Helen Duncan. Some more recent pioneers such as Gordon Higginsion, Eric Hatten and Coral Polge have helped to develop mediumship and communication with the spirit world even further.
The Arthur Findlay College
A respected public figure of his day, Arthur Findlay retired from banking, left London and bought Stansted Hall. He dedicated the rest of his life to Spiritualism and the pursuit of the psychic sciences. After his death, he left the property to be used for the advancement of mediumship and the psychic sciences. Today it’s one of the top colleges in the world and teaches high class mediumship, trance, spirit art and healing courses.
